Answer:
Yes, they may attend the classes. However, they are not eligible for
certification. See the Education Calendar for a list of upcoming classes
and check the program descriptions for details of Elected Officials
Academy credits.
Question:
We are about to hire a full-time clerk and we want to her to receive
training leading to certification. Who should we contact?
Answer:
The International Institute of Municipal Clerks (IIMC) has a Certified
Municipal Clerk Program (CMC). The CMC program is only available to
municipal and deputy clerks who are members of the IIMC. Clerks receive
points for educational training at both seminars and for college degrees.
In addition, clerks gain points for practical experience. Contact the
IIMC at (800) 251-1639 for more information or see their web at http://www.iimc.com/index/index.shtml.
Locally, the Michigan Municipal League, in conjunction with the Michigan
Municipal Clerks Association (MMCA) provide seminars that can be credited
toward CMC certification. In addition, the MMCA sponsors the Michigan
Institute twice a year, as well as other classes during the year.
