Michigan Municipal League Wins Three MarCom Awards for Marketing and Communications Excellence
Ann Arbor, Michigan — The Michigan Municipal League has won three international MarCom Awards for its marketing and communication efforts, including two “Gold” awards.
The League on Nov. 7, 2013, received a gold award for its new placemaking.mml.org website and a gold award for The Review magazine – “Detroit Matters” issue. In addition, the League got an honorable mention award for The Prosperity Agenda radio show.
“As an organization, the League believes it is essential to inform the public and our member communities in as many different ways as possible,” said Dan Gilmartin, CEO and Executive Director of the Michigan Municipal League. “One way is through more traditional methods, such as our print magazine and radio show, and another way is digitally, like we do through our website, mml.org. So it is truly an honor to get these three vastly different communication tools recognized at such a high level.”
The MarCom Awards is administered and judged by the Association of Marketing and Communication Professionals out of Arlington, Texas. There were more than 6,500 entries from throughout the United States, Canada, and several other countries in the 2013 competition.
MarCom Awards is an international creative competition that recognizes outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professions. Entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, PR firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers. The MarCom statuette graces the trophy cases of some of the top business and communication firms in the world.
The MarCom competition has grown to perhaps the largest of its kind in the world with about 6,000 entries per year. A look at the winners shows a range in size from individuals to media conglomerates and Fortune 50 companies. The competition is so well thought of in the industry that national public relations organizations, local ad clubs, and local business communicator chapters are entrants.
Earlier this fall, the League also earned two awards in the Michigan Society of Association Executives’ Annual Diamond Award Contest. It won a Diamond Award for The Review magazine and a Gold Honorable Mention Award for the placemaking.mml.org website.
