Lathrup Village Mayor Frank Brock Jr. Honored with 2012 Guido Leadership and Public Service Award
MACKINAC ISLAND, Michigan (Oct. 4, 2012)—-The Michigan Municipal League has honored Lathrup Village Mayor Frank Brock Jr. as the League’s 2012 winner of the Michael A. Guido Leadership and Public Service Award. The award was formally presented to Brock during the League’s Annual Convention October 4 on Mackinac Island.
Brock has served as mayor of Lathrup Village since 1995 and has served on the Lathrup Village City Council since 1989. He has been an active member of the Michigan Association of Mayors since 1998. Throughout those years he has been a tireless advocate for Lathrup Village and other communities across the state through his leadership role within the Michigan Municipal League. He served on the League’s Legislative and Urban Affairs Committee from 2005-2006, the Land Use and Economic Development Committee from 2007-2008, and the Legislative Governance Committee from 2007-2010. He currently serves on the MML Workers’ Compensation Board.
Brock’s public service includes more than 38 years dedicated to Providence Hospital, where his many roles have included vice president of Governmental Relations and a founding member of the Providence Hospital Credit Union Board. He also served as executive director for the Southfield Downtown Development Authority and as president of the Southfield Chamber of Commerce.
Brock’s contributions extend to his personal life as well. He continues to serve on the board of directors of the Southfield Lathrup Optimist Club. He and his wife Virginia adopted eight children and raised 90 foster children, many with special needs.

Created in memory of Dearborn Mayor Michael A. Guido, this peer-nominated honor celebrates a chief elected official who personifies professionalism and leadership, is dedicated to the citizens of their community, and advocates on their behalf in Lansing and Washington, D.C.
