Hastings Mayor Honored With League Service Award
Hastings Mayor Robert L. May Earns 2010 Jim Sinclair Exceptional Service Award from Michigan Municipal League
Dearborn, Mich. (Sept. 27, 2010) - The Michigan Municipal League (MML) announced today Hastings Mayor Robert L. May as the recipient of the 2010 Jim Sinclair Exceptional Service Award, bestowed on May during its Annual Convention in Dearborn.
Robert L. May has served as mayor of the city of Hastings and as a member of the Michigan Association of Mayors since 2002. He has worked closely with the Michigan Association of Mayors during the past year, advocating aggressively on behalf of Michigan communities with legislators in Lansing. May serves and advocates on behalf of his local community on many levels and is involved with numerous national and local organizations.
May was previously honored with a League Special Award of Merit in 2007. He was recently named as the first recipient of the Robert L. May Humanitarian Award by the American Cancer Society, and was also honored with the Hastings Exchange Club’s Book of Golden Deeds Award in recognition of his service to the Hastings Community.
The Jim Sinclair Exceptional Service Award, first awarded in 2008, is a peer-nomination in honor and memory of Rogers City Councilmember Jim Sinclair, a tireless promoter of local government and fervent believer in education and training for elected officials. It is a tribute to Sinclair's legacy of personal dedication, passion and commitment to the League and its mission.
