About the Legislative Conference (Spring)
The Michigan Municipal League’s annual Legislative Conference,
held in late March, is a one-day event attended by more than 800 city
and village officials, more than 120 legislators and legislative staff,
and approximately 300 vendor representatives. This event is a critical
policy briefing for municipal officials to gain an understanding of key
issues that will affect their jurisdiction in the coming year. All sessions
are legislative in nature, and are presented by MML advocacy staff, Michigan’s
legislative leadership and invited experts in appropriate fields.
The Michigan Municipal League is committed to making its events a
valuable experience for participating vendors by working with your
representative to design the best package of tools to meet your needs
and budget. Call the League’s vendor programs administrator at
734-669-6325 to see how MML marketing tools can help you capture a
bigger share of the municipal market.
About
the Annual Convention (Fall)
About the MML Annual Convention (Fall) – The Michigan
Municipal League’s annual convention, held in late September
or early October, is a four-day event attended by more than 800 city
and village officials, 200 guests and approximately 300 vendor representatives.
Municipal officials consider this gathering to be one of the most important
opportunities available to them for networking with their peers in
local government, learning about issues important to the governing
and administration of their communities, and for learning about emerging
products, services and technologies.
The convention is in a different city each year. Locations are selected
for their destination appeal as well as the host community’s
ability to physically house an event that includes dozens of educational
sessions and a large trade show. The 109th Annual Convention in 2007
will be in Traverse City.

Program Audience
Your ad in the program for the Michigan Municipal
League’s annual Convention or annual Legislative Conference will
be seen by more than 800 city and village officials, 200+ guests (convention)
and approximately 300 vendor representatives. The municipal officials
come from cities and villages ranging in population from very small (under
500) to the largest (nearly 1 million) in the state. Almost 300 different
communities were represented at the 2004 convention. The municipal titles
most heavily represented are the top decision makers – council
members, mayors, city/village managers, clerks, attorneys, finance directors – responsible
for millions of dollars in purchases each year.
Program Content
The program is the guidebook that attendees rely
upon to find their way through the event. The program includes detailed
descriptions of all sessions, special events, and vendors exhibiting
in the concurrently running Spring or Fall Expo.
Of all materials the delegates receive, the program is the one they
carry with them and refer to regularly throughout the conference to
decide
which sessions and events to attend, and to learn which companies have
sponsored sessions and events. Attendees also use this program to find
their favorite vendors in the exhibit hall and to discover which new
companies they should learn about. After the conference, this program
is a valuable reference tool when officials are looking for a consultant
or vendor.
If you are exhibiting in the Spring or Fall Expo, you can boost the
return on your marketing investment by advertising in the program.
Studies by
the Center for Exhibition Industry Research indicate that you can increase
your booth traffic by an average of 46% by advertising in convention-related
publications. If you do business with local units of government and
want to increase that business, or if you are just beginning to solicit
the
municipal market, don’t miss this opportunity to boost your sales!
Display Advertising
Display ads are scattered throughout the
program among the session and event descriptions and in the listing of
exhibitors.
