Members of city and village councils face many challenges in their
leadership roles – how to do more with less money, how to govern.
Your efforts to become an informed leader are often unrecognized.
With this in mind, the League has established the Elected Officials
Academy, which offers expanded educational opportunity for elected officials.
More programs, and a broader array, will be offered to mayors, presidents,
councilmembers, commissioners and trustees and elected administrative
officials such as clerks and treasurers as an opportunity to expand
their
knowledge and expertise. All elected city and village officials are
invited to participate. Since the inception of the program in July 1997,
over
90 elected officials have completed Level One, 50 have completed Level
Two, and 40 have completed Level Three.
By successfully completing each level of the Academy, you will receive
recognition by the League of your achievement. Of even greater importance
is the fact that your community will benefit from the education and
experience that you will gain. Your acceptance of the challenge of
learning will
better equip you to fulfill the important responsibility of volunteer
leadership. You will have the satisfaction of demonstrating to your
community and peers leadership competence in carrying out your duties
as an elected
city or village official.
