I've Been Everywhere (in Michigan)
League staff travelled all across Michigan to capture images of your local communities, then set the names and images to our own Michigan version of Johnny Cash's "I've Been Everywhere." This is just one of the great surprises in store for you at Convention this year!
The MMMA has been in effect for two years now, yet there are still many unanswered questions. How and where is medical marijuana dispensed? What are the implications for a municipality as an employer? On average, the state Department of Community Health is receiving 70+ medical marijuana patient applications a day. Attend this session and discover the likely impacts of the Act on local units of government. There will be discussion on issues surrounding the right to farm, dispensaries, ongoing ACLU cases, zoning, and more.

This spring has brought a whirlwind of legislative changes that affect the way public employers do business. Join us to hear from labor law experts about changes to PA 312 binding arbitration, PERA, health care, the Urban Cooperation Act, and more. These changes present a lot of opportunities for local units of government to control costs.
Learn how to navigate these significant changes and make them work in your community on August 4 or September 22, in Lansing.
