Your one-stop spot for League events and educational training! March 17, 2011
On April 5, the League is offering an opportunity for you to get together with members from your region. This session will take place at 3:30 pm, immediately prior to the welcoming general session, at the Lansing Center and is complimentary with your Capital Conference registration! Also on April 5, the League is offering pre-conference workshops on the following topics: Labor Negotiations 101 The Medical Marihuana Act & Your Community
Statistics indicate that municipalities continue to experience high levels of financial loss because of errors and poor judgment calls in employment situations. This full-day seminar is designed to provide municipalities with the information and tools they need to reduce their risks related to public employment issues. Presenters will provide a general overview of each of the topics, provide information to reduce risks, and supply materials to be used as practice tools. This is a must-attend seminar for every municipal manager, mayor, attorney, and human resources professional. Topics to be covered include:
Are you considering a millage, or have you recently had a millage that was defeated? Hear from Roger Martin, of the Martin Waymire public relations firm, on the many ballot campaigns he has conducted over the years. He will share what worked in successful campaigns and things to avoid for future campaigns. In addition, you'll hear from municipal officials who have gone through the process and have had successful returns.
