When you attend the 112th Annual League Convention at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dearborn next week, September 21-24, we thought you’d like some tidbits to streamline your week...

  • Registration is located on the main floor of the Hyatt. Hours: 9/21, 2:00-7:00 pm; 9/22, 7:00 am-6:00 pm; 9/23, 7:00 am-6:30 pm.

  • First-Timers Orientation will be held 9/21 at 3:30 pm in the Sterns Room.

  • The Welcoming General Session featuring Alan Mulally, President & CEO of Ford, will be held in the Grand Ballroom on 9/21, beginning at 4:30 pm.

  • On 9/22 at 8:00 am, the general session will kick off with the Parade of Flags, followed by the Community Excellence Awards, and you Center for 21st Century Innovators.

  • Network with vendors and colleagues at the Experience Main Street Festival in the Expo Hall beginning at 3:00 pm on 9/22.

  • Be sure to visit League Foundation silent auction area and check out the items available there, including tickets to your favorite Detroit sports teams; numerous gift baskets; and much more. All proceeds go to the Foundation’s support of League education programs so you’ll be helping a great cause and going home with some great deals.

Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero will speak next week at the 112th Annual League Convention Councilmember’s Lunch, on Thursday, September 23, 2010, at 11:45 am. Bernero is the democratic candidate in this fall’s gubernatorial election. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear his message next week!

The League is offering several opportunities for you to get involved and earn Elected Officials Academy (EOA) Leadership credits. The EOA is responsive to the current problems you face, and offers expanded educational opportunity for elected officials. A broad array of programming is offered to mayors, presidents, councilmembers, commissioners, trustees, and elected administrative officials, such as clerks and treasurers, as an opportunity to expand their knowledge and expertise.
