Michigan Green Communities Conference
December 10, 2010, Lansing

green community conferenceThe Michigan Green Communities Conference addresses four key issues that present challenges to becoming a more sustainable Michigan. These issues include: financing energy improvement, institutionalizing sustainability, building support for sustainability investments and intergovernmental collaboration. Four separate sessions will offer local government and university representatives an opportunity to learn from each other's experiences and to brainstorm new solutions.

Local government and university staff who work on energy and environmental initiatives should plan on attending this conference.

MLGMA logoThe 2011 Winter Institute will take place February 1-4, at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel in Detroit. This year's theme is "Positive Leadership in a Negative Environment." While the primary purpose of the Winter Institute is to provide opportunities for professional development, it will also provide an ideal setting for the sharing of ideas, mentoring, networking, and benefitting from the collective experience of the membership.

This weekend seminar offers the most critical information in four short courses--Legal Framework, Leadership Roles & Responsibilities, Financial Management, and Planning & Zoning--in a compact format that facilitates achievement of Level One of the Michigan Municipal League's Elected Officials Academy. 

The Elected Officials Academy (EOA) is a voluntary continuing education program established to encourage and recognize the efforts of local elected officials to become effective leaders.
