WE NEED YOUR HELP ON PERSONAL PROPERTY TAX! Come to Lansing Wednesday, April 18
Legislation which would significantly cut personal property tax revenues to local communities will be introduced Tuesday, April 17, and the Replace Don’t Erase coalition will have a press conference 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, at the Lansing City Fire Station #1, 120 East Shiawassee (corner of Shiawassee and Grand), Lansing. Then at 12:30 p.m. we expect a hearing before the Senate finance committee to follow. As many of our members as possible are encouraged to attend the press conference and then also testify (or at least attend) the Senate hearing. Congressional Recess Means Opportunity - Congress is on their spring recess during the next two weeks, giving local officials a perfect opportunity to speak with them of issues of importance such as transportation and the 2013 budget. As you do so, please talk to them about the need for a longer term transportation funding bill that will bring stability to decisions being made at the state and local level on rebuilding our transportation system. League CEO Dan Gilmartin to Give Keynote Address at Urban Land Institute Conference - Michigan Municipal League CEO & Executive Director Dan Gilmartin will give the keynote address during the 3rd Annual Public/Private/Partnership (P3) Conference in Grand Rapids April 19. The event, taking place at DeVos Place in downtown Grand Rapids, is jointly sponsored by the Urban Land Institute of Michigan and the Michigan Municipal League. The past two conferences in Rochester and Lansing have been overwhelming successes and attracted more than 450 of the state's leading real estate developers, investors, public officials, academics and professional service provider.
