Personal Property Tax A Priority in Lame Duck?
Last week Lansing's local political publication, MIRS, indicated the Speaker has personal property tax reform as a top issue to handle in the lame duck session being held the end of November/beginning of December for 2-3 weeks. The League, along with our partners in the Replace Don't Erase coalition, have continued concerns about an identified guaranteed replacement for PPT revenue. Competitive Grant Assistance Applications Now Available - Applications for the competitive grant assistance program (formerly EVIP grants) are now available through the Department of Treasury's website. The application period is from October 1, 2012 through December 3, 2012. Local units who are consolidating units or collaborating on services to be more efficient or cost effective are eligible for the grants. MORE>

Michigan Vacant Property Campaign kicking off Statewide Roundtables - The Michigan Vacant Property Campaign, in partnership with the League, will be hosting a series of regional roundtables across the state, starting on Wednesday in Oak Park. The regional roundtables will provide an opportunity for community members, stakeholders and local leaders across sectors to learn about the MVPC and the technical assistance services the campaign offers to support and enhance local efforts to address issues posed by vacant properties.
