Governor's Budget Solution Spares Revenue Sharing

Last week, the Governor rolled out a proposal to solve the current year and FY 2011 budgets and revenue sharing was NOT part of the proposal. Her proposal did include a tax amnesty program, cuts to some department budgets and transferring funding from the School Aid budget to community colleges, among other things. However, revenue sharing for the time being has been spared. MORE>

State Affairs Update

Transit in Planning/Zoning Bills Pass Senate Committee – Last week, the Senate Local, State, and Urban Affairs committee passed two bills that deal with transit and land use. The bills, HB 5211 and 5212 sponsored by Rep. Donigan (D-Royal Oak), add provisions to the zoning and planning acts which specify that transit be included in the normal reviews of master plans and zoning plans. MORE>
