Sharing 2010-11 Budget Headed to Conference Committee
Last
week, the House of Representatives rejected the Senate substitute
of HB 5880, which would have cut revenue sharing by 4percent
based on the total combined constitutional and statutory payments
for each local unit. The League strongly opposed the Senate

Senate
Passes MDOT Budget – To keep the budget process moving, last week the Senate passed
the Michigan Department of Transportation budget in much the
same way as it passed from committee. The bill covered the
$84 million shortfall of federal match funds by shifting funds
throughout the Department. Funding for cities and villages
through PA 51 was kept at the governor's recommended level
- about a 3 percent reduction based on actual revenue collections. MORE>

are urged to call
Senators Levin and Stabenow and ask them to oppose U.S.
Senate Leader Harry Reid's amendment to a supplemental appropriations
bill, HR 4899, that would insert language to establish a federal
"312" law and force municipalities around the country
to enter into collective bargaining agreements with their
