you need to build a better
The League assists Michigan’s leaders by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting raw data into tangible strategies for progressing towards your greater accomplishments. Center for 21st Century Communities (21c3)
At the heart of the 21c3 is the ability to provide local officials with the strategies and expertise they need to develop and implement programs that will enhance our communities as vibrant places in the 21st century. From creating walkable downtowns and neighborhoods with cultural and social amenities to fostering green initiatives and an entrepreneurial climate, the 21c3 is dedicated to creating prosperous communities that will flourish with each new generation.
The League’s magazine, The Review, includes relevant features and interviews with Michigan’s leaders. The Municipal Yellow Pages, a directory of suppliers to local governments featured in the League’s biannual Directory of Michigan Municipal Officials, is one of the first places local officials look when they are ready to purchase products, services, consulting and advice.
The League offers a full range of human resources consulting services including classification and compensation studies, pay system design and administration, personnel manuals, performance evaluation systems, and human resources systems audits.
Our Executive Search service facilitates one of the most important processes undertaken by an elected body—selecting effective leadership for the organization.
Municipal Manager Pool
The League, in conjunction with the Michigan Local Government Management Association (MLGMA), maintains an online listing of professional municipal managers who are available for interim assignments or to assist in managing special projects on a part-time or temporary basis.
Wage & Salary Survey
The results of the League’s annual wage and salary survey are available online through a database that members may search by a number of criteria. The benefits section provides a comprehensive overview of compensation packages.
Technology & The Web
The League utilizes cutting edge technology in order to efficiently communicate and disseminate information to our members and citizens of Michigan. Our innovative website includes streaming video presentations, blogs, photo galleries, RSS feeds, and viral marketing widgets, which amplify the League’s mission on the internet. Our strategy also involves creating conversations in Michigan about how to create highly livable communities through popular social networking sites such as Facebook, YouTube, and Flickr.
